Wild & Scenic Updates
The Wild & Scenic Srudy Committee continues to look into Outstanding Remarkable
Values (ORVs) for the Farmington River and Salmon Brook. Already they have heard from
speakers regarding the unique geology of the CT River Valley, including some examples of
glacier features. Members of the Center for Public Policy and Social Research (CPPSR) at
Central Connecticut State University have been hired to complete an economic study of our
ten town area. The Wild & Scenic Feasibility Study began in April of last year and will
continue for the next couple of years while outlining outstanding values of the area, support
and understanding of the proposed Wild & Scenic designation, and how the area will be
protected once designated. For more information feel free to visit
The 40th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act is coming up April 26th. Come
and celebrate at the Riverview in Simsbury with prizes, raffles and demo's sponsored by the
Wild and Scenic Study Committee.

An outgrowth of the Granby Stream Team, the Salmon
Brook Watershed Association (SBWA) is open to all people
and organizations interested in actively protecting the land,
water and life found in the East and West Branch of Salmon
Brook. The SBWA encourages participation from everyone
throughout the watershed: Granby, East Granby, Simsbury,
Hartland, Barkhamsted, and Suffield Connecticut, plus
Southwick and Granville Massachusetts. As these towns
develop more commercially and residentially, the SBWA
strives to maintain the excellence of water quality found in
both the through community education, voluntary monitoring,
and other programs. Join and help preserve our beautiful watershed for generations to come!
